I have a CMP PowerClean Ultra (Model 540) salt cell for my saltwater pool that keeps leaking from the top hole where the electrical cord goes through. The first one i had leaked after about 1.5 years of service, which was under 2-yr warranty, so the company sent me a whole new salt cell. Now the new one has started leaking from the exact same place at again about 1.5 years since it was installed. The company now says it is out of warranty, which I don't get since they sent me a new one to replace the old one. Seems like the 2-year warranty should reset with the new unit. BUT the company is not budging that the warranty is based on the ORGINAL purchase date. Anyway, has anyone had experience with this? To buy a new salt cell from that manufacturer, it is anywhere from $800 to $1000 depending on what website I look at. Do you know of a good alternative that would be less expensive, fit my current housing, and still do the job?
